I collected runway photos from both Vivienne Westwood and Jaun-Paul Gaultier to help inspire the punk side of my designs. From this I decided to use bold prints and leather detailing in my collection.
My concept is to bring masculine silhouettes together with feminine details in the form of deconstruction and layering. It is an ode to the rebellion and speaking out that is linked to a punk lifestyle.
I drew my colors from an oil slick, mostly sticking to jewel tones in their darkest form with a few lighter additions for balance. For fabrics, I chose almost completely patterns for impact.
After choosing fabrics, I drew out a few different designs, these were the final three I chose moving forward.
Flats of the garments created in Adobe Illustrator. I used leather lacing and quilting to create my own textile design.
All prototypes were created from muslin for fit and construction practice before creating the final garments.

There were a few complex constructions like the wrap skirt, which has 36 reverse box pleats, and the leather lacing on both the shirt and skirt. I included metal details like the large safety pins and buckle straps on the off-the-shoulder top for a little more of a punk punch.
